The natural park of Punta Licosa can only be reached on foot. Arriving by car you can park in Ogliasto Marino (hamlet of the town of Castellabate). The Cilento National Park is a popular destination for trekking enthusiasts and lovers of nature trips. An ideal place for long and relaxing walks on the rocky coast of the sea, Licosa offers visitors breathtaking scenery, crystal clear waters, views of unparalleled beauty and poignant sunsets. Impossible not to fall into temptation by its transparent waters and dive into the sea.
Punta licosa and its island inspired Homer in the drafting of the Odyssey, It was right in front of this coast and its island that Ulysses had himself tied to the mast of his ship to hear the songs of the sirens bewitching.
Licosa, located in the Cilento National Park, is a coastal strip of about 3 km surrounded by the Mediterranean sea, where carob trees, pine and gorse reign supreme. At the end of the coastal path we find ourselves in front of a small island emerged from the sea on which rise up an old tower and a lighthouse. Almost completely sunk in the strip of water that separates the coast from the island, you can see and admire the remains of ancient human settlements dating back to the tenth century BC, the remains of a Roman villa, a roman fishpond and several Roman tombs.
Licosa with its island and the Cilento are wonderful places that are worth a view!
